Toronto Island Marina would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for another successful season on the island. The weather was great and will continue on a warm trend right into October. To celebrate this bonus warmth, we will have one more band this weekend. The “Last Call Heroes” will be on the Upper Deck on Saturday evening at 8 pm. We will also be having a Thanksgiving dinner at the marina on Saturday October 10th at 5pm. Turkey and all the trimmings will be served along with pie for dessert. Tickets will be available in the office.
Oil Change week is coming up and we would like to remind everyone to sign up now so this can be done before it is time haul out. Anyone interested should contact Mary at 416 203 1048 or by email atmary@localhost. We would also like to take this opportunity to introduce Mary to everyone. She has joined the team in the Mechanical department and will be your contact for all mechanical inquiries. We are very excited to have her onboard.
Haul out will begin in the coming days and carry on through October. Haul dates can be booked in the front office or by calling 416 203 1055. If you are not able to be present at haul out we are happy to take care of the process for you, just let us know and we can set it up. To help us move quicker though the hauling process we ask everyone to get their boats pumped out prior to your haul date. In the last couple years we have had cold weather come early and the pump out will not function if it is too cold so bring your boats around now before it is too late.
Winterizing forms will also be available this week on our website and in the front office. Please ensure these are filled in early so we can schedule the work before the cold weather arrives.
At this time of year the tender schedule starts to get reduced. Make sure to check it out online before heading down so you are not delayed getting across. The tender will continue to run on a reduced schedule right through November so that everyone has a chance to pack up their boats for winter.
As always, we remind everyone to send in updated insurance certificates to marina@localhost. We require a current copy on file and will be ensuring we have everything up to date as we book winter storage.
A notice to everyone using the wooden canoe and kayak storage racks around the marina: We will be doing maintenance on them over the winter and will require that all items are removed by October 31st. Anything left will be removed by the marina and subject to removal and storage charges. If you require winter rack storage please contact the front office at 416 203 1055 or drop by and we will make arrangements for storage on designated winter racks.
In preparation for winter, we ask all boaters to remove personal items from the grass areas near docks and boats. Picnic tables may be relocated to make room for winter storage so nothing should be left on or locked to the tables. Lawn furniture and private tables/chairs should be moved to the immediate shore edge to keep well clear of the road for machinery to pass freely.
